The Island at Camp Manitou has a lot of history behind it. Inside the lodge you will find an old log room that we now use for a sitting/lounging room. This room is what's left of a trapper's cabin that dates back to the 1930's. It is was restored many years back and is now a focal point for many new and old guests to gather and swap fishing stories.
The Main Part of the Lodge is a stick frame structure with log accents, inside you will find a hand crafted stone fire place in the sitting area, in the dining room you will find another more modern glass front fireplace and back in the staff area you will find a large wood furnace as well as a wall mounted propane furnace, all of these heat sources can be used to keep you toasty warm on the cool spring and fall days.
The lodge is decorated with many fish and animal mounts, you will see representation for each species in the lake that we catch as well each animal we hunt, along with a few others. We also have a lot of handcrafted furniture made out of local driftwood in the lodge. The lodge is open 24hrs. a day, come down whenever you want there is always coffee on as well as wireless internet for your convenience.
The main lodge itself sits right in the middle of the action, the main dock is right in front of the lodge and most of the time when people are done fishing for the day or after dinner they will sit on the Main deck and enjoy a cocktail or two visiting with the guides, guests or just taking in the breathtaking view.
